Fly to Watamu for a five-day beach holiday. A Watamu safari is characterized by powdery white sand, coconut palms, seabirds, marine life, and abundant sunshine. Derived from the Swahili word "Tamu," (meaning sweet), this destination offers a culinary experience with Italian pizza, ice cream, and seafood. Embracing luxury while adopting the “Hakuna Matata” (no worries) mindset is the best way to enjoy a vacation, whether you're on your honeymoon or not!

Itineraries

Day 1

Nairobi - Watamu Beach

You’ll be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport and transfered to Wilson Airport. From here you’ll take a flight from Wilson to the Malindi Airport. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to your Watamu hotel. After checking in, you can relax in your room or take a walk along the white sandy beach to enjoy the gentle breeze blowing onshore from the Indian Ocean before joining other travelers for dinner. In the evening, you can partake in activities such as traditional African dancing, acrobatics, quiz nights, snake shows, or dancing under a tropical starlit sky with live music or disco.

Day 2

Watamu Beach

Today is your day to explore Watamu beaches. After breakfast you can observe the vibrant marine life or simply relax amid the palms and silver sands of Watamu Beach, located near a fishing village. The beach features offshore coral formations within a marine national park, offering some of Kenya's best snorkeling and diving spots with a variety of multicolored species. Alternatively, you can opt for a glass-bottomed boat trip to observe the reef. Keep an eye out for sea turtles and explore numerous pools teeming with various creatures during the low tide.

Day 3

Watamu Beach

This day promises adventure as you pay a visit Arabuko Sokoke Forest. As the name suggests, this forest in Kenya is home to unique species such as the Sokoke scops owl, Sokoke pipit, amani sunbird, and spotted ground thrush. This area includes three types of forest and hosts numerous bird and mammal species, including waterbuck and common duiker. You’ll also explore the mangroves and dense forest areas where seasonal pools come to life after a tropical downpour. Keep an eye out for the green mamba and rock python.

Stretching from Arabuko Sokoke is Mida Creek, a broad tidal creek surrounded by extensive mangroves and lined with palms. Mida Creek, which is comprised of sea grass and coral, serves as a habitat for various fish species and feeding sea turtles. Mida is also a stopover for many migratory birds. The creek is suitable for water-skiing and wakeboarding. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the resort.

Day 4

Watamu Beach

After breakfast, you will visit the Gede Ruins. Originally built in the 12th century, the present-day structure of the Gede Ruins dates from the 15th and 16th centuries. The site includes large stone houses, a mosque, and a palace. Researchers believe that the town, which remained undiscovered until the 1940s, once supported 2,500 people. The walled city represents a medieval Swahili settlement and features a pillar tomb, indicating the burial site of a person of importance. In the afternoon, return to your resort hotel for lunch and relaxing at the beach.

Day 5

Watamu Beach - Nairobi

On the final day of your Kenyan beach safari, take a moment to savor your last moments on the white sand as you prepare for your flight back to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be transferred to your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
