Itineraries

Day 1

Arusha National Park

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and head to the Arusha National Park. It is a 30 minutes (37 km) drive to reach the park entrance. At the Momella Gate (park entrance), an armed ranger will be waiting for you to accompany you on the walking safari that will give you the chance to experience the wildlife up-close. Only a few other national parks in Tanzania give you such an opportunity and is something that should not be missed.

Lunch will be taken at a picnic spot in the afternoon. You will continue your tour in the safari vehicle through the Arusha National Park. After plenty of time allocated for you to observe the wildlife, we will take you back to Arusha Karibu Heritage House for dinner and overnight.

Note: Other activities can be arranged at an extra cost.

Day 2

Arusha Town to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at 7 am at the hotel, we pick you up between 8 to 8.30 am to start the game drive en route to the Tarangire gate. We arrive at 10 am, and after the 10-minute registration process, start on the game drive inside the park.

We have lunch at 1.00 pm at the picnic site (taking good care of meat-eaters and vegetarians). At 4 pm, we exit the park and head to Migombani Lodge for dinner and overnight. The park is 118km (2-hour drive) southwest of Arusha and its total surface area is 2,850 sq km.

The park has sparse vegetation strewn with baobab trees and acacia trees. It's the only area in the Northern circuit with the greatest number of wildlife outside the Serengeti eco-system. Animals you can expect to see are zebra, cheetah, giraffe, lion, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, Kori bustard (a heavy flying bird), antelope species, and many elephant. Apart from a wildlife game drive in Tarangire, you can also do a hot-air balloon safari at an optional $600 per person.

Day 3

Drive to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast at the lodge at 7.30 am, we pick you up at 8 am to start the game drive en route to Serengeti National Park gate via Ngorongoro. We arrive at 12 pm, and after the 10-minute registration process, start the game drive inside the park.

At 1 pm, we have lunch at the picnic site (we provide for meat-eaters and vegetarians). At 2 pm, we continue the afternoon game drive till the evening at around 6.00 pm. We then head to the Nyani Campsite for dinner and overnight.

Seronera has endless plains accumulated with savannah grassland. It provides a wide feeding area throughout the year for wildebeest, many antelope species, and zebras. This gives the potential to see predators such as cheetah, lion, hyena and other wild cats.

In the Seronera valley, there is dotted acacia vegetation which appears in a group-like structure (known as kopjes), which provides a vantage for predators to spot the prey. It also provides a home for reptiles such as lizards and pythons.

Day 4

Serengeti National Park

At 5.30 am, we have a light breakfast for warmup at Nyani campsite and leave at 6 am for the sunrise game drive in Serengeti. We return to the camp at 10 am for a full breakfast. At 1 pm we enjoy lunch at the picnic site (we provide for meat-eaters and vegetarians). At 2 pm, we continue the afternoon game drive till the evening around 6.00 pm. We then head to the Nyani Campsite for dinner and overnight.

Today, you may also book a hot-air balloon safari at $600 per person.

Day 5

Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

At 5.30 am, we have a light breakfast at the camp and leave at 6 am for the sunrise game drive. We return to the camp at 10 am for a full breakfast. At 1.00 pm we enjoy lunch at the picnic site (we provide for meat-eaters and vegetarians).

At 3 pm, we exit Serengeti Park and head to Simba campsite at Ngorongoro. We have dinner at 6 - 6.30 pm dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite. Today's game drive will be in the Central Serengeti, but will more likely be based in the Southern part which will give you more opportunities to spot hunting actions. We can then exit without a delay, heading to Simba Campsite.

Activities such as sunrise game drives will enable you to spot the Big 5 animals and many others, including the opportunity to see kills. At sunrise, the animals are very active while searching for their daily meals. You may also book a hot-air balloon safari at $600 per person.

Day 6

Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast at 7 am at the camp, we pick you up at 8 am and start a game drive en route to the crater gate. At 9 am, we descend the crater. We have lunch at 1 pm at the picnic site. At 4 pm, we exit the crater and return to Fig Tree Lodge for dinner and overnight.

The park has volcanic soil that supports many habitats making it very potential for Big Five spottings in a single day's visit. Inside the park, there's Lake Makat (Maasai word meaning soda lake) which provides a home for many birds. The inside of the park is well-known for the existence of many Maasai families living in their circular-oriented bomas.

Furthermore, it's perfect for anyone wishing to explore the history of human evolution pioneered by Leakey's family. Animals expected to spot are lion, buffalo, wildebeest, many birds, zebra, hippo, gazelle, jackal, fox, wild dog, eland, waterbuck, serval, and other ungulates. Absentees are giraffe, cheetah, leopard, and elephant which are rarely seen at the crater rim.

Day 7

Lake Manyara National Park

We have breakfast a 7 am at the lodge. At 8 am, we pick you up and start the game drive en route to Lake Manyara's gate. We arrive at 9 am, and after the 10-minute registration process, start on the game drive. At 1 pm, we have lunch at the picnic site. We exit the park at 4 pm and head back to Arusha town, marking the end of your tour.

Lake Manyara National Park has a variety of diverse habitats like underground water forests and woodlands on the Western shore of the alkaline lake, which provides a feeding area for thousands of flamingos. It is the only park in Tanzania with a great number of bird species. Also, 180 butterfly species have been documented in the park. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, lesser flamingos, and its canopy walking.

Common wildlife you can expect to see are thousands of wildebeest, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, lion, warthog, baboon, honey badger, elephant, zebra, waterbuck, and many others.
